Patreon is making some changes that affect you
Added 2017-12-07 19:27:02 +0000 UTCHey guys! I wanted to fill you in on some things Patreon has announced. They are shifting coverage of credit card fees to patrons instead of creators. Basically, if you are pledging a dollar a month, it will mean you actually wind up paying $1.37 if my math is right (2% plus $.35 is what they said). $5 comes to $5.45, $10 to $10.55, $25 to $25.85, $50 to $51.35, and $100 to $102.35.
I am against this, and so are a lot of other creators. We are letting Patreon know that we don't want you guys to be charged even a little bit more for your generosity. I had no problems covering credit card fees or any of that.
Anyway, I wanted to let you all know about this change. If it means you have to decrease or cancel your support, please don't feel like you owe me an explanation. I think they'll be sending out an email to patrons soon if they haven't already, but I wanted you to hear my thoughts on the matter.
I'm hoping that they reverse their decision with the number of creators that prefer it the other way.
EDIT: These changes won't take effect until December 18, so feel free to let Patreon know how you feel and hopefully they'll change their minds.
