I think they just like the naming convention because it's immediately recognizable to fans.

Mobile Command Bases, Juggernauts, Hoverscouts, and Floating Fortresses come to mind. Aside from the many pre-Empire vehicles shown in the Prequel Trilogy, why do you think Lucasfilm is so enamored with using different variants of AT-ATs in the modern movies? (Rogue One, The Last Jedi).
