Patreon Sales Tax Update for June 1st

Hey Thamily,

Just want to give an update towards something you may or may not have heard about regarding Patreon. Due to new laws being passed in US and some other countries, sites like Facebook, Twitch, and now Patreon have to start charging Sales Tax on some Tiers. Patreon is planning to start adding this cost on July 1st.

The Good News is I have filed all the benefits to be as non-taxable in most states and regions, so most of y'all won't be affected by this. I personally think this is pretty BS and would rather make sure y'all don't have to pay a penny more for being a Thamily Patron ♥ If all things go well, no one will have to pay extra EVER!

The Bad News is some folks may get Sales Tax anyway depending from state to state and country to country. And to make it worse, they are not clear about which benefits will be taxable or not per state or country :NotLikeThis:

The Better News is the sales tax is like 4-11%, so it would be 20-55 cents per 5 dollar Tier, for example. So hopefully, its going to be tiny & insignificant!

I want to be direct and straight-forward with you all. Y'all do so much for me already as is, I could never ask anyone for anything more. Hopefully no one will be affected by this change and we can just continue having fun and making videos for y'all to enjoy. If you feel the need to downgrade/opt out of a tier, then I can't hold you accountable, but I hope that you will consider staying and supporting what I do ♥
