Hello Everyone!
As you can see I have my paws full these days ;)
It is July, which is summer here in Canada, and one of the 4 months of the year where you don't need a parka lol. Felix is now 11 months old. I cannot grasp how quickly the time has been passing.
We will be appreciating and celebrating the heat with continuing on with the newest addition of Caribbean Fusion Tutorials & Practice Videos. We will also still have some standard DDTs from the perspective of post partum/recovery added as well because we can't stop/won't stop shimmying :)
I also recently added some tutorials and practice videos covering my approach to belly flutters. They are towards the bottom of the list.
But wait there is more!!
You can now learn how to make the Braided Fringe Belt I wore while pregnant, and that you see in all of the most recent videos.
This is the belt shown here
https://www.patreon.com/posts/50699595
This link here will take you to the post containing the video series to guide you through making your own belt. Videos are slow paced and thorough so you don't need any prior sewing experience, You just need patience and perhaps some coffee or tea lol
https://www.patreon.com/posts/58340968
I hope everyone is safe and well and managing as best they can in the era of Covid.
Thank you so much for choosing to learn and dance with me. β€
Below is our updated Masterlist where you will find all the Dance Drills & Thrills video links in chronological order.
Remember you can request practice video themes!! More Shimmies? More layering? More level changes? Need something broken down?
Let me know!
These drills will sometimes involve hand weights, medicine ball weight, floorwork, and level changes.
You do NOT have to add these elements of you do not wish to or if you are not physically in a position to handle them right now. You can absolutely follow along at your pace and not use the weights or do the floor work or level changes. You can do the same moves standing. Listen to your body and set your own pace that is right for your body.
To get the most out of these I do recommend keeping a notebook. This list is long and continues to grow but that's how we grow but showing up and doing what we can, when we can :)
Record what drill you did, what it focusing on and how much you want to work on that topic. This will help you to know what you have been focusing on and to track improvement depending on your individual goals:)
If you are going to follow along with the floor work and floor postures please invest in knee pads and/or a yoga mat
It looks like the ones I currently use are out of stock or discontinued but these here look similar. https://www.dancewearcentre.com/products/eurotard-994-stretch-cushioned-knee-pads?variant=42809921283
**You can use whatever ones you want. The important thing is that the knees are protected.
Need a new veil or want one like the ones I use in my Drills. Want to support a small business? Check out https://www.etsy.com/shop/SilksByCelestina
(Not sponsored. I genuinely purchase and love her veils and work).
*you can use any veil. I typically use a 3 yard 5mm ultra light silk veil.
There are some cool down stretch videos as well if you would like a little stretching guide and want to see some of my favorite stretches. (cool down video links are after the DDT video links).

Need a veil!?! Here are some Links to where you can purchase one.
I recommend a 3 yard silk (or light chiffon/poly/georgette) rectangular veil for Practice if you are new to Veil work and not sure where to start when it comes to getting a veil.
**If you are petite in stature, or very tall you might want to reach out to a veil artist about a more functional veil size for your height :)**
I highly recommend https://www.etsy.com/shop/SilksByCelestina
I love her colour combos. You can see a lot of her veils in my videos on facebook and Instagram.
You can also find veils at
www.fairycove.com
www.dahlal.com/categories/veils/
***If you want to get the most out of this, I recommend keeping a note book. Write down the drill video number before you start and make a note after for yourself how you felt during and after. What did it work for you? Did you struggle with it in certain areas? How does your body feel from it the the next day? This will help you to pin point areas and know how often to do or revisit a drill so you get the most out of these.
Don't do more than you can before you are ready!
It's okay if you ran out of steam halfway through or can't complete the level changes or whatever struggles you may be having. Work through the struggles if you have any. Don't overdo it. Set goals. Do just 1 or 2 songs to start and work your way to 3 if needed. Only take a movement as far and/or as fast as you can without losing too much quality of movement. Drills/practices are not a competition but a rather a tool for growth. Use them wisely and safely and go at your pace:) Seek to Find the balance of pushing yourself without over extending yourself. β€
Happy dancing to youππThank you again for being here β€
