How to Make the Braided Fringe Belt - Master List Post

Welcome to my series on Making A Braided Fringe Belt. This post will contain all the links to a the videos needed to make it on place, as well as some words from me about the whole process.

This is a design of mine, and so many people have commented and asked about this belt. It is fun to create and wear and while it helps to have a sewing machine, you can in fact make this belt without one. You don't need any prior sewing experience, You just need determination, and perhaps a thimble ;)

Currently I am post partum, having welcomed a baby boy into the world at the start of August so I thought this was a great opportunity to help share what I know about dance belt making with you while I recover and work towards dancing again. I am healing well and hoping to be back to teaching dancing soon but until then let's make a shiny, pretty thing to dance in :)

I broke the videos and process down into sections so you can work at your own pace, piece by piece. If you have any questions please do ask and I will do my best to answer (there may be a slight delay in response due to life with a newborn and less than desirable internet but I will do my best to reply as promptly as possible).

I hope you enjoy learning to make this belt with me and I would love to see pictures of your creations.

**** I just want to state I know my videos are long for this and that I left in me making changes/correcting errors in some instances. I decided to leave those in so you can see the whole process, and so you don't think it is "just you" if you also find these things happening.

I know in the current world of 15 seconds & 1 minute TikToks, and 30 second reels(nothing against tik tok or reels) we feel like we want instant results or that we can lose our attention span quickly, or we think if we aren't producing something quickly then it must not be any good or must not be right. There is such a focus on short and fast. But, learning new skills takes time. Creating something well made takes time. You will make mistakes and you will get frustrated. I have been doing this years and I still mess up and I still get frustrated, but I kept on and continue to keep plugging away at it. I continue to learn as I go, and I acknowledge that sometimes it just takes as long as it takes. But at the end there is such a feeling of accomplishment when the project is done because you kept going.

My hope is at the end of this, you don't only have a new fun dance belt, but you also have more understanding of how to make something and that you learned and felt like your creativity is inspired and you have more skills/knowledge to get creative with.

Happy sewing and making :)
Thanks for learning and making with me❤
