Hello Lovely Dancers!
Here is the written breakdown for section #2 of Aziza.
Disclaimer:
Sorry this is late. Winter has arrived here and somehow that meant that my internet connection was no longe capable of uploading anything substantial. I had to wait for a tech to come out on Monday to help get it sorted. Which I think(hope) it is. This video took 8 hours to upload. Check on your rural friends trying to use modern technology lol. We are not okay 🤣😫
And of course the day I filmed it I was having "a day". You know the kind where nothing goes right and the harder you try the worse everything seems to be getting?!? Yep that kind of day. They are a reality of dance (well of life and any profession, craft, hobby etc) and sometimes we have to push through them.)
The funny thing is after days like this one, in the coming days I usually find I know what I was struggling with really well so there is light at the end of the tunnel.
It is important to me that you see on here that learning and growing is sometimes messy, even for "the pros" , you know what? Especially for the pros.
Also on the bright side I can put together a pretty good blooper reel with all of the "failed" video clips from that afternoon/evening of filming.
Anyway thank you for your patience here is our breakdown of section 2 which is from 27 seconds to 59 seconds.
4 counts turning counter clockwise
4 counts turning clockwise (on first count butterfly arms to reverse veil)
4 counts turning counter clockwise (on first count butterfly arms to reverse veil)
4 counts turning clockwise (on first count butterfly arms to reverse veil)
4 counts butterfly arms (with veil behind us) 2 counts left arm, 2 counts right arm, veil/arms down at side by 4th count
On 5th count arms come up over head. One 6th to 7th count squiggle the veil down in front of you and on 8th count right arm starts to sweep veil in front.
2 counts right arm scoops in front of you with veil on 3rd to 4th counts open up as if you were going to go into a barrel turn (on 4th count left arm is straight and down).
4 counts of barrel turns counter clockwise (2 full barrel turns, 2 counts per turn)
2 counts then counter clockwise while threading the veil around yourself so it is back in front of you by the end of the turn. On 3rd count bring veil down in front and on 4th count bring it up over head and behind you.
For counts 5, 6,7 and 8 scoops arms and veil in and then back down and up (arms down and veil open behind you on 8)
Repeat this pattern with arms and veil for 4 more counts. Pause with arms up in 3rd count, stillness in this pose for 4th count. Right up is angled forward and lifted.
6 counts of hip drops with the right hip to the accents in the music. On 7th and 8th count shift weight onto right, bounce heel and lift veil over right arm.
4 counts of Belly flutter (or any small repetitive vibration movement, a little chest shimmy, hip shimmy, washing machine shimmy etc Would also work here)
6 counts hip lifts/drops starting with and emphasizing the left hip on 7th and 8th count bounce weight on heels as you bring the veil over the left arm.
Voila! End of section 2
Thank you so much for learning with me:)
