Let's fall in love with shimmy by trying to shimmy continuously for an extended period of time!

The whole point of this one to maintain the desired shimmy without stopping while maintaining quality for as long as we (you) can.

Gentle reminder to be gentle with yourself. If you make it through the whole drill while shimmying that's awesome. If not no worries when your shimmy locks up on you stop and reset, breathe, have some water and start back up when you and your body are ready.
It's not about getting it right the first time or everytime. It's about going back to it until it starts to get better and even then still going back to it so that you can maintain the quality:)

Great inquiry Odette!! So glad you asked this. When I say/do a tight shimmy you are correct it is very similar what many describe as a Egyptian straight leg shimmy. My looser shimmy is a result of softer bent knees but without overly pumping the knees. I hope that makes sense. I will definitely ad a various Shimmies video with Breakdown of each shimmy (in a skirt so legs are easily visible from multiple angles so there is more clarity going forward. Thanks so much for asking this great question and hally Shimmies. Also congrats on making it to 4 or 5 mins! That is awesome:)

Woah, I have never tried shimmying for so long haha! I lasted somewhere between 4 and 5 minutes before my shimmy pretty much died, heh. I jumped back in though! One thing I wanted clarification on is when you do a "bent leg/hip shimmy" vs an Egyptian straight leg shimmy. Sometimes I can't tell which you're doing when you're facing forward in black leggings. My dance teacher always drills us on each at the beginning of class, but I haven't heard any other online teachers distinguish these nor use those terms. Is your "tight shimmy" a straight leg shimmy and your "lose shimmy" the bent leg one?

You are welcome Jannah! My pleasure! Yes the breathing reminders help me too ❤🤣

Wonderful quick practice, and loved the encouragement and breath reminders. Thank you Cassandra!
