It's April! What to expect this month

Hello! Welcome to another month of learning to dance with me. Thank you so much for giving this a try and/or for sticking around. Your support means so much :)

If you are new, behind, have limited time or whatever reason and have not completed tutorials 1 to 10 and practice videos yet do not stress. There is no rush. You can go at whatever pace is comfortable to you and revisit each video as many times as you need. Below you can find a master list of links to the tutorials and practice videos. I have also updated my list to include the moves/postures/content covered in each tutorial and the practice videos that correspond to it so it will be an easier reference guide for you to navigate.
I have posted them as their own post so that you can find it easily by clicking this link here:

If you have completed tutorials 1 to 10 and practice videos 1 to 19 then you can expect to see a bit of a format change for this month and I am super excited about it.

Did you realize that in those first 10 tutorials we covered just over 40 different movements/postures and gestures. How awesome is that!? Pat yourself on the back. Does it feel like that many? Do you remember all of them? Don't worry if you don't! You are not expected to just yet as that is a lot, so the theme for this month and next month is practice, practice and practice, and after that coming in June we will be putting it all together and learning a little choreography. I can't wait!!!! I hope you are excited as I am for a little more dancing now as we have spent the last little while do a lot of listening and thinking while breaking down movements, so now it's time to put all we have learned so far to practice, literally.

So this month and next month instead of 2 tutorials that are approximately 20 minutes long each, you will get 2 extended review practice videos (approx 20 mins each) that will cover moves and postures from tutorials 1 to 10 . No breaking down moves, just continuous moving/dancing for 20 minutes or so:)

Remember you are always encouraged to go at your own pace and do what is right for your body at a given time. You do not have to do all the 20 minutes at once if it feels like too much, you can set your pace. Alternatively if you have the time and want to you can do the video 2 times in a row and get 40 minutes of practice in:) It is always up to you. You have to listen to your body. Make any modifications you need to to work with your own body's needs. The goal of these videos now is to get more comfortable with these movements and to help the body develop and memorize movement pathways. And beyond that the other goal is to have fun, build confidence, and get more comfortable with our diverse and beautiful bodies.

2 of the shorter videos (5 to 10 minutes long) will be guided stretching videos for helping you to cool down and stretch since we are moving more now.
The other 2 shorter videos (also 5 to 10 minutes long) will be videos where we learn little combinations (repeated sequences of 2 or more moves) to get used to movement pathways in our bodies.

Here is the proposed posting schedule for April for Introductory Belly Dance (forgive me for the delay in getting the first videos up this month).

Saturday April 6th
Extended Practice Video #1
Guided Stretching Video #1

Wednesday April 10th
Combination Practice Video #1

Wednesday April 17th
Extended Practice Video #2
Guided Stretching Video #2

Wednesday April 24th
Combination Practice Video #2

Looking forward to the months ahead. Thank you so much for choosing to learn with me and for your support.

Cassandra
