Introductory Belly Dance Tutorial #7

Here is Introductory Belly Dance Tutorial #7.
Going forward I will abbreviate these in the titles as IBDT #7

In this tutorial we revisit abdominal pulls in and out and shoulder rolls, particularly forward ones. These moves were most frequently asked about in my messages and in comments on videos so I figured a review and revisit of them with some practice variations would be helpful for those who asked and those who were maybe also struggling with them but has not asked. I am so happy that you are reaching out and asking for help when feeling overwhelmed with a movement or just seeking further clarity in regards to it. This is such an important step to learning. Thank you for asking. If there is anything else you would like revisited or explained again please let me know. There is a good chance you are not the only one wondering. ❀😁

Moves covered here are
Grapevine (travelling step)
Myas / Vertical Figure 8s
Review of abdominal wall pulls in and abdominal wall pushes out
Review of shoulder rolls, emphasis on forward rolls.

Thank you for learning with me 😁Happy Dancing!

Hey! Thank you for answering me. I don't know, but whenever I try the maya and pull one hip up, then slide to the side and then let it go down: it goes down but also it goes back. So the movement is kind of 3D: up/down, left/right, back/neutral (cause it doesn't go forward, only it goes back when I let it slide down). I don't know if I am explaining it well... :/

Hey Kinga! Just to be sure I understand, is the issue you are explaining that when you try to do the mya, if you keep your heels on the ground then your hips dont go up and down, just side to side?? If so this is normal, and what you can do is make sure you practice your hip lifts with flat feet and then your hip Slides with flat feet. The from there when your body feels ready you can work on lifting the hip and then sliding it out while it is lifted. I hope that makes and that I understand what you were asking. If that was not what you were asking just let me know. I will also address this when I am filming tomorrow so I can explain what I just wrote in a video so it can hopefully make more sense. :)

when I try to do the maya with my feet not moving, then I cannot keep the hips vertical, but they go up and down and side to side :(
