Friends:

I'm relieved the academic year is winding down for my main job. Most of my students are now rehearsing their music for graduation ceremonies and there is a collective sigh of relief from the staff that we only have about 40 days of work left. It's always hard to believe I make it through another year serving almost 600 students and teaching 30 classes a week. I always look forward to this time of the year, the weather turns around in Milwaukee (can you believe it is still in the 30s almost every morning?!), I can start thinking about summer projects and travel plans. I look forward to spending a lot of time outside cycling and BBQing. No more 12 hour work days for a couple months!

A big benefit of this is I can focus more time and energy into continuing to improve and grow this Patreon project. This is where I'd love some input from the community here. I know there has been a big push for some Jack Rose and Robbie Basho content and I hear you. Basho will be especially difficult because I know so little of his technique and tendencies. I look forward to the challenge.

I would love you to post recommendations for future content here so I can spend some time reflecting. Keep in mind I especially love working on the music of Leo Kottke, John Fahey, other 60s/70s fingerstyle, early piedmont blues, British Isles, and some contemporary fingerstyle music. I'm sure I'm leaving some things out. I have yet to do any work with the slide and have been considering that for next month.

I thank all of you so much for continuing to support this research and the lessons, it could not happen without you. If possible, if you see someone suggest something you would like to see taught here, please give their comment a thumbs up or reply to that particular comment. This way I can more easily navigate the suggestions and prioritize those that are the most popular.

I would recommend this tune (Little Brown Dog: https://bit.ly/LBDrosmini), arranged by the late, great fingerpicker from the early 1960s, Dick Rosmini.

Hello Josh. Thank you for recently joining and for the suggestions. I'm trying to make this patreon about people who paved the way for these styles of music, so there will be less emphasis on contemporary artists here, though I'm not shutting down the possibility. I should do something of Jack Rose's someday.

Just joined, I've been following your youtube channel for some time and I look forward to digging into your lessons more. You mentioned there's been request for some Jack Rose, and I'd like to throw a vote that way as well (Cathedral et Chartres in particular...Mountaintop Lamento feels like a tall order but I'm putting it out there anyway :) ). Curious if you'd be open to any Daniel Bachman as well? Anyway, thanks for all the great content!
