That seems like a perfectly sensible way to look at it, I always felt 8 bars is too short for a full strain

2020-12-19 13:47:55 +0000 UTCMy guitar teacher (Kenny Sultan) and I were discussing WCB. He always played it as a 16 bar A-B structure like strains 1 and 2: the first 8 bars are the standard form ending on the G7 the second 8 has the turn ending on C. He initially had trouble thinking of each 8 bars as a unit. When I look at the full song it looks like the structure (at level above the specific variations) is AB/AA/AA/AA/AB/Bridge/AB/AAA/AB/AB. He always heard it as a 16 bar "A-B" but it really is both. A full extended run of "A" form in the first half. Anyway, interesting learnings for he and I and always raises the question: what was Blake thinking or was he even "thinking" . . . :)
