Added 2019-08-30 14:23:45 +0000 UTCHi everyone. I've been reflecting on the idea of keeping this regular through the end of the year, with something new posted the first week of every month. This will be challenging, but we're going to give it a shot. I like what we've started here, it gives those of you out there who may not want weekly lessons access to some of my private work, and also helps build an alternate community where we can chat and look over some of the music I'm working on. The first group of you who joined will be billed for your initial pledge on September 1st. If you wish to stop receiving these updates you can cancel before October 1st to prevent being billed again. The second round of people who joined were billed immediately and will be billed again on Sunday, September 1st. If you do not wish to be be charged again I'd recommend cancelling, though we'd love to have you stick around.
What's coming next? I want to continue the early blues experience for the next post. Many years ago I did a substantial amount of research regarding Lonnie Johnson and weighed in on the tuning and way he strung his guitar. There have been some developments as to the possible origin of his 12 string in recent years (very exciting!). The next release will include an essay summarizing this research and my performance of the wonderful 12 string solo "Got the Blues for the West End," along with a complete transcription of the piece. I'm aiming to release this content on October 1st. These will be available to Tier 2 subscribers.
To keep you busy for now, and apologies to those of you who may already have this, here's my transcription of Leo Kottke's "Echoing Gilewitz"

I hate BS like this. Hope they come around or the other potential avenues bear fruit.

2019-10-11 00:09:42 +0000 UTCHal Leonard acquired print licensing for Faheys catalog sometime since my last book was published and when we got the ball rolling on the rights for book 2 last summer. They make ridiculous demands on the licensing, to the point where you’d lose money on a book that you’ve already put hundreds if not thousands of hours into. Still working on other avenues won’t know if or when they’ll pan out. The last request I submitted to Hal Leonard was in July of this year and they haven’t responded

2019-09-08 13:48:40 +0000 UTCAndy - I have really enjoyed your Blind Joe Death transcriptions. Do you have plans to do Part 2 and/or other John Fahey transcriptions? If so, when do you think they'll be published?
