2025-03-27 05:23:36 +0000 UTCThat's what I had originally thought abut Cotyar, but I think I'm just so paranoid about missing things in this series 😅 And yeah, it's amazing how apropos and prescient so many pieces of fiction--especially futuristic fiction--can feel. Since history can tend to be cyclical, it's sad how familiar horrible things can be, and I definitely have moments where I struggle with it. But it speaks to the writing to be able to reflect that, and that we connect with it so much.

It would make sense that a ship running on battery power would use red light, since normal lighting would leave everyone effectively blind if the lights were to go out for some reason. Back in the day pilots used to check their maps under red light so as not to compromise their vision out of the plane. On the other hand, blue light stimulates wakefulness and alertness in humans. It’s ideal for concentration in high-stress scenarios." As far as the adaptation goes while the macro story is the same the micro stories making it up are somewhat to considerably different so it is tough to say if this is 1/2 way or 2/3 of the way through Caliban's War. That said the book ends with season 3 episode 6; and many will say you should watch episodes 5 & 6 together as a two part finale before diving into the second half of season 3 which jams a whole book into 7 episodes due to SyFy dropping the show. Oh, and Amos is absolutely coming into his own now.

2025-03-25 19:51:15 +0000 UTCI don't think Cotyar was actually going to betray Avasarala. He was probably just stalling and waiting for The Terminator a.k.a Bobbie Draper to show up. Also, Naomi's speech is really great as it is and even more so over Venus/team ABC sequence. It always fascinates me how much it describes today's state of the world and the course we (as humanity) are probably taking. In this sense, The Expanse is not science fiction but something more historically accurate (future history, if you will).
