I'm late to the party, but wanted to comment anyway. I'm pretty sure Jayne not wanting the others to know that he betrayed them is what saved his life. There was no mercy in Mal's face, even when he turned away and Jayne couldn't see his expression any more. He was walking away and going to let Jayne die a traitor's death. Jayne not wanting the others to know meant that he was ashamed, it meant that there was something in him that could be redeemed.

2024-04-12 03:16:33 +0000 UTCSmall bit of trivia. When they got back to Serenity, they were all standing around and Mal wrapped Kaylee in that hug from behind. Totally unscripted! Jewel kept missing her mark and Nathan just improvised the hug to keep her from blocking anyone.

2024-04-11 19:17:57 +0000 UTCI have never really noticed any other show genre jump like this one does even though there are plenty of other shows that use different directors for each episode. I wonder if it was a conscious choice to kind of make the genre jumping stand out in this series.
