Masters of the Air 1x03 Full Length Reaction

I apologize for not posting this yesterday, but I'm not kidding that I actually fell into bed and slept for more than 12 hours after this. I have been so emotionally drained from doing both BoB and MotA that I've had to allot more time in my schedule for sleep 😂 Which is probably a good thing, since it's literally become an inside joke for you guys that I never sleep 😅 Anyway, wonderful episode, enjoy! And I'll be watching episode 4 when it drops tonight, so bring on the tears! Woohoo!!!

In November 42 American and British troops invaded North Africa. German and Italian troops surrendered in May of 43. Around 250,000 were captured. The raid in this episode was in August 43 so all of North Africa from Morroco to Egypt was in Allied hands. This raid shows why the British Air Force had switched to nighttime bombing. Losses during daylight were to heavy to maintain. At this time no fighter aircraft had the fuel to escort the bombers all the way to their targets so German fighters would wait for our fighters to go home and then would attack the bombers. 60 bombers were shot down and 95 more were heavily damaged. 129 reached Africa but only 80 would fly again. Those conducted a bombing ran in France on the way back to England. Germany generally followed the Geneva Convention on the western front so thousands of airmen were made P.O.W.s during the war. Against the Russians the Germans ignored the conventions and treated captured Russians harshly if not killing them outright. Almost 3 million Russian P.O.W.s died in German prison camps.

I've definitely noticed it's not perfect, but...so what? If people hadn't complained, I probably wouldn't have even thought about it. I've seen modern Marvel movies with worse CGI, so it definitely isn't always about budget 😂

I'm just astounded at people who are complaining about the CGI in the show. Are they serious? You can count the airworthy B-17's in existence today on your hands, and they are of different variants. What were they supposed to do? Just shoot up or crash them for the TV show?

So happy to get to see your reaction to this! This is definitely the episode that captures what air battle was like for these bombers. Take a break! You deserve it! Get some rest. Let Firefly be a nice emotional break for yourself (trust me, it will be)! And thanks for all your hard work getting this stuff out.

Those Belgian resistance fighters were certainly brave.
