Mamba 03 - Most Dangerous Prey 130

And here's page 130 (with an attached zip file with the original clean images) and the end of issue 3. What new perils will threaten our favourite snake-named female police detective? You'll have to read issue 4 to find out!

The last panel is rendered in Poser's Blender-style Superfly, a physics based render engine way superior to Firefly (mostly a game engine on steroids). The original render is included in the .zip if you want to compare both. Following Mr X's wise counsel I've started migrating to Firefly, which imply changing every shader and most of the lighting and saying goodbye to a lot of light and shading tricks. Of course, it's all worth it as you'll see when I begin posting test renders here.

And I'm eager to see the first images with the Superfly engine :)

I liked this cliffhanger; it leaves a lot to imagination instead of an unexpected "happy end" with the sudden arrival of Nielsen, Yendley or even Captain Wonder :)

Oh my god, sorry. I completely misunderstood the "worst", I though it was a Comic Book Guy style "worst cliffhanger ever". Which of course, it would have been a legitimate opinion, as criticism is always welcomed here. But I'm happy it was a mistake on my part. And yes, it's the worst cliffhanger for Mamba. She's utterly helpless. Or is she...?

Briaeros

Hi Briaeros. I was not at all disappointed. I did not mean to give that impression. I am actually pleased with the cliffhanger. I was thinking this ramped the intrigue up a notch since it was something new. I am looking forward to the next chapter.

Dark Archon

Not sure he means bad for us, but instead bad for her, good for us...

goalie21

Great, looking forward to it.

You could consider that a What If type of story, somewhat outside Mamba's main continuity. Which may appear again in the future or not. The same way Tarantino's movies have a main, realisitic timeline (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown) and a fictional one (Kill Bill, Inglorious Basterds).

Discussions about the influence of the 70s Itallian giallos on 80s Hollywood horror movies? Debates regarding whether the liquid oceans under Europe's frozen surface can sustain life? Who knows!

Briaeros

Of course, that's why the text reads "End of Issue" and not "End of Mamba" ;)

I'm sorry you feel disappointed. A cliffhanger must leave the overall plot unresolved but provide the promised entertainment for the current issue, which I honestly think I've done. I had to finish it because of its legnth and the technical reasons I've explained but, as I've also said, the story is far from over (as it wasn't when Fever Jungle #1 ended). In fact the reason Richelieu has only engaged mamba for a single chapter is he will do it again. I hope you feel differently when you see how good flesh, metal and everything look with the Superfly engine I'm using on the next story and I'll use on the fourth issue of Mamba.

@Dark Archon : see Deviant Soldier Mutants : Mamba finishes literally in the hands of the shark squad but the story stops there so her fate remains unknown ...

Adam Van Hammée

This is the worst peril I have seen Mamba in. I don't think I have ever seen a full issue where it ended on a cliffhanger where Mamba was captured and helpless. Closest I can think of was with Mustang, but the cops came in and rescued Mamba in the end.

Dark Archon

Wonder what fate awaits our favorite detective.

I hope there will be additional parts to this story...
