As a creator I like to have my options open, moreso on this type of stories. Then again, you can have "realistic" stories with the Punisher despite him living in the same Earth that has been visited by Galactus. The rule of thumb would be there is a Mamba that lives in a human "scale" continuity (way beyond realistic but human) and another one that has met demons and deviant soldier mutants.
