They don't always die. Mustang was arrested after he broke Mamba. I think having an occasional recurring villain might be good sometimes. You might be able to give them a little bit of a character arc, or give Mamba some inner dialogue about fearing she will succumb to her secret desires when faced with the villain again.

Female ones usually do not because I don't like depicting that and they have a fate worse than death reserved for them (remember Dakota?). Now, secondary male characters also tend to die. That's because these stories are populated by criminals an monsters whose level of threat must be shown so the fact that the heroines face them becomes an act of courage. Also, I like violence in my stories, even gore. But not gore mixed with the sex,
