The problem with the .zip file seems to be the server scans it after the upload and there is SOMETHING on the first image file that makes it reject it. It's not the size of the file, either the .png or the full zip. Making a long (and strange) story short, I've opened and resaved THE SAME IMAGE and now the server has accepted the .zip file without a hitch.
