Our Momo boy

This is still a hard post to share, but I need to make it anyway.

Our sweet little Momo is no longer with us. I needed some time before I put that out there as it was a very sudden loss. Even though he was our seizure fox, this was not what took his life. A large coral snake was found deceased in their yard. The snake had multiple areas that were definitely chewed on by Momo. Momo also had a bump on his chin that wasn’t there that AM, so I can only assume that is where the snake bit him. Both animals were just doing what they naturally do, so I can’t be upset with the snake. It was just an unfortunate natural interaction.

We have discussed ways to help prevent snakes from entering yards, but I’m not sure how much is feasible given the property layout and finances to cover so much. We are working on removing as much brush as we can, but no matter what, it’s still a natural property and lots of snakes do call it home.

I had asked Ethan for new friends for Tilty so she’s not alone. This is already in the works, so I’ll post more about that soon!

This was the last photo I got of them together that AM before it happened (He’s behind the tree). He is very much missed by all of us. We worked so hard to keep him healthy and happy for the past two years.

O nooo!! So sorry for this loss of sweet Momo. Nature can be beautiful but it comes with its cruel downside. I sincerely hope and pray that you find a way to deter the snakes from getting into the fox yards. If I find or come across anything…I will let you know immediately.
