Summer Wings

 Nickel Cape, Eri, PS.

I know many people would love it but I'm really ashamed of my colored artworks. It does look nice color-wise and it looks WAY better in low-res but I'm just not good at color. And by that I mean I really tried A LOT. (not only this picture) Of course, I'm limited without a tablet. But I don't think it's THE problem. Or rather I don't think a tablet would do magic, it would give me a way. A way I wish I had long long time ago as a kid. To get used to it, to make all the toddler mistakes with it and not have to choose between real deal and attempts. Well... yeah, this is "attempt" too.

It's one of the times when I had a nice idea and destroyed it by choosing a wrong way for it. Or had no way to execute it. I'll just stick to lines and hatching. I'll work more on Eri pose and maybe upload it. The doodle for it looked much better =(

And I'm only uploading because I think people who support me deserve to see. But, really, I'd rather chew my leg off than press "Publish now" now. Where are my head-bags?...

I guess it's noon. NC is facing the ocean to the south. Yeah, professionally speaking it's silly of me to draw something as complicated as a time of day during a bad weather. I guess my lack of art education is shown when I complicate things or just leave them undefined. Life taught me everything is extremely complex. And all good artists say "be simple, be informative, work with what you know" ^__^' I should learn... eventually. Thanks for the feedback!

I think it's only drawback is the muted tones in the shadows coming across as too flat\dark. Is it dawn? If so change the shadows on the edges of the concrete\stone to be blue-toned instead of gray

Eri has always tried hard to be strong

It's not raining in Nickel Cape! It's so beautiful, I almost want to cry! Personally, I'm glad you don't have a tablet. Your magic IS your pencil. It's the very thing that makes me love your art so much. This reminds me of a time I was in western Washington state, and was nearly lulled into wanting to move there. It was a beautiful, picture perfect four days in April. Spring was in full swing. Everything was in bloom. There was still a little snow capping the tops of the highest mountains. But reality is, that was probably the only four nice days that year for that area. I've heard of people moving there, and not being able to take the constant wet climate they get. So yea. Eri must be one tough cookie! :-D
