i think the reason why the ending is great as it is, is because of how tough the ending really is despite the positive feeling ending . They still used the powers and all that knowing the sacrifices and ed copying his father leaving his son and daughter and all of that. It's sorta realistic. It's still a "good" ending but sorta of the best case scenario of reality (nobody's perfect and everyone's selfish).
