Spinalare is a parasitic creature, but despite being categorized as such due to its forceful first contact with the host and later physiological change that can be harmful to the host, Spinalare is closer to a symbiote because of its protective nature and the fact that the creature that becomes a host for Spinalare become much stronger, immune to various poisons and diseases, better at finding food, and can live a lot longer. Spinalare can only live for 3 days as a larva, during that time it has to find a host and begin the process of assimilation. The host might resist at first, but as the larva grows, it begins to not only grow in size but also start to change the host body. It invades the brain, helping it to process information faster and sharpening its senses. As it becomes an adult, it also provides help by protecting them with their sharp whips. But as the consequence, as the host needs to provide for two adult creatures, it becomes more active and aggressive as it needs more food. In order to achieve their needs, Spinalare can modify its host behavior and even physiology to the point that it can change a herbivore into a carnivore, but at that phase, both creature begin to meld into one individual.

Sorry for the absent, as I said before my schedule is much more stricter than last year Trial of Ink. But honestly, working on this ink illustrations is just so calming and cathartic.

UPDATE :
I just added 2nd page for Spinalare with additional information about the creature. For this creature, since Spinalare is like a "living magic item," I made it as such, and it is also something that you can add to any existing humanoid or beast.
the files will be added to the Trial of Ink folder in the Vault post later.
