Just try to avoid going down the "Gaylor" rabbit hole (they're the super toxic group that continues to insist that Taylor is a closeted gay person and they find every little hint and clue to say that she is gay regardless of how many times she's denied it. In fact, this year, an article came out that basically insists that she's gay and that she has an obligation to tell the world. They have no room in their brains for the fact that she's said many, many times that she's not part of the gay community and even if she was being closeted, that's her right and they have no right to out her!) IMO, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a crush, having a fantasy, imagining being with her or saying how beautiful she looks and that you're attracted to her (there's a bunch of us straight women that have a crush on her for God's sake!) but I just find it very demeaning, disrespectful, and committing sexual harassment for the people that insist that she is gay and she needs to come out about it. But the filming finishes and they're back in the real world, and they miss eachother.

2024-06-27 21:14:20 +0000 UTCShe was actually dating Calvin Harris while filming the Wildest Dreams music video and he made a comment online that he played off as a joke (about him being the lion watching in the video) but I think alluded to him actually being kinda pissed off about how physical she was with her costar, so it’s funny you mentioned that. She promoted 1989 as being her single era but shortly before the tour started she got with Calvin. The marketing was definitely in part a way to try and combat the dramatic media label she had at the time as being a serial dater who was boy crazy. 2013 was a particularly bad time for Taylor being the butt of jokes about her dating life and Blank Space was written in large part to be parody mocking that public narrative which is also incorporated into the video.

There was a lot in the press about her squad and the people in it. Lots of models, actors, singers etc. She also featured the actors who play Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson because her cats are named after them. So it’s a little nod to her cats who she named after two of her favourite TV characters. It’s speculated that a lot of the songs on this album are about Harry Styles. Namely, Style, Out of the Woods, Clean, Is It Over Now? Etc. she references “blue dress on a boat” in Is It Over Now? which relates to a quite iconic picture of her in a blue dress, looking sad on a boat during a holiday she took with Harry, where they supposedly broke up. Honestly, the 1989 era lore is insane 😂

2024-06-27 06:07:22 +0000 UTCah, some unfortunate context for the whole thing about people not liking flirty comments about taylor: there are a subset of fans who call themselves "gaylors" and they are CONVINCED that she is secretly gay and everything she does is full of secret messages saying she's gay and that all her relationships are just beards and PR stunts, and they get absolutely furious and disgusted when people point about that 1) that sounds insane, and 2) even if she was, where tf do they get off trying to force someone out of the closet? right now, they are absolutely steamed that she and travis kelce are so visibly and unapologetically happy and in love; when she was basically hiding with joe for 6 years, it was easy for them to pretend it wasn't a real relationship. because of this recent upswing in their outrage, it's become another hot button issue so people might be A LITTLE sensitive about it right now from both sides. it's always seemed obvious that you were just joking and never actually meant anything about it

They are doomed from the start, but still pursue things, which is a parallel to Taylor’s actual relationship; “I said this is gunna take me down”. When they are done filming the movie, things have to end. And then you find out with the last scene that the reason things were doomed or why they couldn’t be together is maybe because he was not single. But it’s open to interpretation, it could just be a new girlfriend. Then, Taylor’s character has to watch him be with someone else while she remembers the relationship they had- that all feels like a wild dream. It’s too much, remembering this beautiful but painful experience while he’s with someone else, so she leaves. Then, he tries to run after her, but it’s too late - he’s already in her rearview mirror. The relationship will now only exist in the context of their dreams, but it may always stick with both of them. Also, the lion in the video is real 😂

Ok on the animal thing—Blank Space just has them as an aesthetic that emphasizes how rich and weird she is as this character she’s playing. Wildest Dreams has the plot of Old Hollywood where they are two actors who are in a movie about Africa (thus the animals) and they have a romance while filming and it all feels so real but at the end they were just on a set and it was all a fantasy and he’s a gross cheating jerk.

Not only does Taylor look like Marjorie with her dark hair but Taylor’s characters name is Marjorie Finn, and her grandmothers name was Marjorie Finlay. Also the plane scene when Taylor is the one flying her leading man around instead of vice versa it’s a nod to the fact that Majorie would pilot planes.

Since the 2020 rolling stone piece where Taylor and Paul McCartney interviewed each other I have found so many commonalities between them. Which only became clearer watching the get back documentary when it came out. Like watching Paul McCartneys genius work in real time .
