I had that much more respect for them after that, but their career was destroyed for years. When Taylor finally spoke up politically the first couple times, I was so relieved.

2024-06-02 01:52:25 +0000 UTCEvery time I see a comment on social media about how they think she looks “heavy” or like she has a “gut” during the eras tour, I get irate for a second on her behalf, because she looks fantastic, and isn’t even slightly “fat.” And I’m someone who has struggled with my weight and body image my entire life. As the comments about all the guys she’s dated, she didn’t date anymore guys that I did, or many of my friends, in our teens and early 20’s. This slut shaming bullshit has to stop, when she was just trying to date like anyone else her age, but with the added complexity of fame and the constant scrutiny. I know she isn’t a perfect human anymore than the rest of us, but after 18 years as a fan, I couldn’t love her more. This is why so many swifties go to battle for her. I get emotional seeing the exponential success she’s had with each new album. I like seeing people’s dreams come true, and she’s always seemed like a truly decent human being.

2024-06-02 00:31:52 +0000 UTCI remember watching this, and my heart broke for 19 year old Taylor (she was 19 at the time of those awards, this was fearless, her 2nd album) in that moment. She was still only the baby version of the badass she would become, and you could see how shattered she felt in that moment. Kanye was a buffoon, and yet, her naivety and her kind heart led her to forgive him, and mend fences later, and present an award to him at his request years later, before he once again took advantage of her kindness on that phone call in 2016.
