Bookbinding Livestream, Sunday 19.00 CEST (1PM EST)
Added 2020-07-04 14:18:14 +0000 UTCStream announcement! Tomorrow Martina will be having the first livestream where she makes a book on stream. No matter if you pop by to say hi, or stay for the duration of the stream, it would be cool to see you there! The focus tomorrow will be on poking hole in the signatures, and sewing them together. If you want to follow along, that's absolutely possible!! :)
Here's what you'll need if you want to follow along!
- All the paper folded and sorted into signatures, ready for sewing (preferably pressed flat overnight). I have folded 80pcs A3 sheets and cut them after folding. 21 cm wide and 23 cm tall. 4 pages per signature, so 20 signatures in total. I used watercolor paper 180gsm, as this will be my painting book.
- Awl, or something that can pole holes in paper
- Some kind of surface you can punch the holes on
- Clamps / bookpress / book stack to hold paper while marking holes
- Ruler & pencil
- Jute cord
- Waxed thread for sewing & needle
- Square frame of some sort for sewing
- Scissors
- Bookbinding glue (or wheat paste) and glue brush (or fingers) to finish off the spine
