These shots are actually from last summer, and I just got them!
I think we all know there are some scary things happening in America right now, and also around the world. If you've ever read or seen The Handmaid's Tale, it's feeling eerily similar to the beginning of that story. I realize I'm in a place of privilege, and while I constantly worry for my friends who are more vulnerable than I am, these changes are creeping closer and closer to home.
I woke up one morning with a real feeling of dread, an idea of a world in which I wouldn't be allowed to vote, or work, or get medical care. A world in which many women around the globe already live in. And I thought, who is going to protect me? No one can. Even men who care will be terrified to help. Some countries are erasing women from public life with little recourse, as we know. And of course we can care and feel concerned and devasted when we read that news, but how does it feel to experience it oneself, right here on our home soil?
I guess it's a lesson in empathy, for sure. I'm not losing all hope, but it's been hard reading the news every morning. And these particular issues are only one small piece of it, I know.
Anyways, I hope you're hanging in there. Embarassed for my country right now. So here's my butt hole -
