Today I learned something kind of interesting...the word "boudoir" comes from the French and meaning "pouting room," from bouder, "to pout" or "to sulk."
My French friend told me this, and that the literal translation, to pout or sulk, might have been simply because it was a private space for women to...I don't know, FEEL their feelings because they weren't allowed to express them in the 18th century (when the word became popular)?
It's so funny to me that it's become this association with sexy bedroom lingerie, typically from a very male gaze POV. But really, it seems like the idea was originally a place to go stew when you couldn't actually tell your husband a piece of your mind! I just find it so interesting how it turned around and somehow became something associated with being sexy, especially being sexy FOR men.
Anyways, fun fact for the day. There are a lot more...intimate photos from this set that I cannot post here due to Patreon's rules. But I will be sharing some on my OF! Speaking of...here's a fresh link!
