I've really been exploring what inspires me these days. After years spent being a designer, I think one of best skills is my "eye." I'm good at seeing the small tweaks that can take an image to the next level. And I think a lot of that comes in with styling. I do sometimes style my friends for shoots, and I LOVE making them see themselves in a new way. Like, something they just hadn't thought to try that takes things up a notch. That being said, I also love people just being raw and who they are.

But there's something to the transformation that inspires me. It's actually what got me into fashion design years ago. It was never really the love of clothes as much as a love of seeing how people can be transformed by how they visually present. In NYC I get to walk past some of the most interesting-looking people on the planet (in terms of choosing how they present themselves).

Anyways, all this to say there is a reason I was drawn to apparel design after years thinking I would just be a fine artist. These days, I'm extremely picky about lingerie. If everyone else has it, I don't want it - even if it's stunning. I love unique pieces, I love shades of brown and nude, I like interesting fabrics and finishes. I'm not as much of a strappy lacy person, but more into sheer or interesting textures.

I get inspired to shoot by styling cool pieces these days. Maybe I used to be more inspired by my own body...but I get bored of it sometimes : P I hope you enjoy these shots, by @jizaphotography on IG.
