Fifteen minutes before we reached our destination, it started pouring rain. We laughed in the car to hide our disappointment, saying we'll do a wet shoot if we must. But the sun came back out, and all afternoon little surprise rainshowers returned off and on, creating this strange magical light. The rain also probably kept away other visitors, so we had the lake to ourselves.
The skin color is unedited...it really glowed like that. We are both fair-skinned so it's pretty strange and phenomenal it turned out this way.
For me, I think my favorite thing about photography is about capturing "moments of light." When I was little I would look at the sun flaring through clouds and say "that's where Jesus is!" lol. But really I wished I were right up there on this cloud, or that one. I could just imagine the scene up there based on the light, and imagined what it would be like to sit right there in the sunbeams on clouds.
