In regards to Sheamus vs Bryan, it could be argued Wrestlemania 30 doesn’t happen without that match. I’ll admit Kane Vs Randy was a strange match and the women’s tag match was a waste of time. But to contradict that I remember the 10 man tag or whatever it was being a lot of fun. All that to say, likely my nostalgia for an early Wrestlemania in my fandom

And they’re both considered (by exclusively New Yorkers) to be New Yorks little brother. So they tend to be kindred spirits so to speak.

On a Raw from England they teased facing off before just teaming up to beat down Punk and Bryan. I think that's what you're remembering with that huge reaction.
