Another great episode. For me watching the show the first time, 2 characters started to stand out: Mel (the awkward quirky one) and Dana (the Charge Nurse). Mel going from having an emotional response to then clapping at the eulogy kind of opened my eyes to who she is as a character. Similarly with Dana it was when the father asked if his son was dead, and the way she handled that was so wonderful and compassionate. And yes, the realism of him not being able to find time to pee really makes this show feel so genuine.

That's such a good point about 24! 😂 I guess they all pee during the commercial breaks lol. As someone who lives in LA I always laughed at how quickly they'd drive from one location to the next. The reality is that they'd easily spend an entire episode just in the car. I can't drive anywhere in LA without it taking 30-60 minutes at least.

The whole time Robby is trying to pee I kept thinking about 24 and all those seasons of me wondering if Jack Bauer ever went to the bathroom. It's the little things, lol. Mel (or Dr. King) is adorable. Her clapping at Whittaker's eulogy made me laugh. She's a ray of awkward sunshine. Even Santos can't be mean to her. Speaking of Dr. Santos (the abrasive young doctor), she really annoyed me in every single scene she was in for a good while. The actress is very good at portraying smug arrogance. She and Dr. Langdon (the sarcastic doctor who wants to get a dog for his kid) seem like birds of a feather. They seem like good doctors for the patients, at least. That dead patient with the sister that Robby brought a letter for is easy to be confused by. He was already dead before Robby's shift started. Dr. Abbott (the guy that Robby goes to see on the roof when his shift starts) was his doctor but the sister only arrived hours after his shift ended so Robby had to handle that instead. The letter that Robby read out was from Abbott since he couldn't express his condolences in person (Abbott was a veteran like the patient). Some explanation that you might find useful when they say R1/R2/M3/M4/etc.: - the R stands for Resident (a fully qualified doctor but one who is still doing on-the-job training for their specialty) and M stands for Medical Student (hasn't graduated medical school yet but is doing practical job training); the number that follows is what year of residency or medical school they are on - the medical students in the show are Javadi (M3) and Whittaker (M4) - the resident doctors are Santos (R1), Mel (R2), McKay (ankle monitor, also R2 despite being older than Mel), Samira (R3), Langdon (R4), Collins (pregnant, R4) - the attending doctors (fully qualified doctors with specialties/subspecialties and act as teachers/leaders of the students/residents training under them) are Robby and Abbott; the rest of the doctors you see are harder to pinpoint (esp the surgery doctors) but they're generally between a resident, a fellow (doctor with a specialty but is receiving further training in a subspecialty), and an attending
