A New Light
Added 2024-12-28 05:23:13 +0000 UTCThis is the first set that I've shot in my new place. I think I had been here maybe 2 or 3 weeks, and was still feeling really unmotivated artistically. This was totally unplanned. It was late. I looked over an just really liked how my new lamp looked, and the soft light that it gave off. So, I grabbed my camera and stripped down. I feel like that's how a lot of my self portrait sessions start. I'm just really inspired by a space and how it feels, and I want to be in it. Often, it's the light that draws me in. I'm owning a new space here, and getting to know it intimately. I'm so grateful that I finally have some peace and privacy again. And thankful to be feeling some sort of creative flow again.
I absolutely love the light here and how the shadows fall on my body. Funny thing is that this is the roll where I mixed up my films and thought that I was shooting Kodak Ultramax 400, but was really shooting Gold 200. I've done this before, but it was intentional and I adjusted the exposure to accommodate the film speed. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw how well these turned out. The first image is my favorite. I'd love to know which one is yours.

2024-12-29 07:27:38 +0000 UTCAbsolutely love the colors in all of these! There's a nice mix of warm golds and some cool blues in the shadows. With that said, my favorite has to be second one! The balance is super nice with your body parallel with the lamp. Additionally, I like the position of you looking up where the light shines—kinda like a nice sentiment of moving forward in you're new space!
