The Healing Creek

First off, I just want to thank you all for being patient with me. August really took it's took on my mentally and emotionally, and left me feeling uninspired and pretty low. I appreciate every single one of you and the support that you've shown to my passion of creating art.

I've been waiting for what feels like forever to post this set. I shot these back in July after a collab with another film photographer. I've wanted to do a self port series here for so long. It's one of my absolute favorite place to take a drive to when I need to ground my self and find peace. It was only my third time shooting myself out in nature, but absolutely my favorite so far. I've always been so drawn to water, and find so much healing in it... especially magical places like this.

As you can see, I'm only in focus in about half of the photos. Maybe even less, actually. I was super bummed when I saw the scans. But that's all part of learning. I'm so used to shooting my self ports indoors and working with minimal space, that it's really difficult to gauge when I'm shooting outdoors. Which tells me that I just need to shoot myself outdoors more and practice! And maybe also get a traffic cone or something to set in my place when I'm focusing :) That all being said, I still love this set- the colors, the energy, the environment. I'd love to know your thoughts as well <3

Shot with my Pentax LX/43mm on Kodak Portra 800

One of the kindest comments I think I’ve ever gotten and more appreciated than you know. Thank you so much for your words πŸ₯°

I am 😊 Thank you so much!

I think these are wonderful, even the out of focus ones. I’m glad you are feeling better, I know that sometimes in order to heal our mental state we need to step away and ground ourselves. Take the time you need, and know that when you come back there are those of us that will still be here to celebrate your art.

LOVE the colors on these!

Robert

It is still a lovely set, despite some shots out of focus. Anyway, photographers, especially film ones, we are all learning to embrace the out of focus :)
