More self portraits with my favorite mirror! This is probably my favorite B&W set that I've shot in a while. I love the softness in the first few shots especially. It makes me think of old romantic Hollywood glamour that you might see in a movie.
Something that I've love about shooting film is that it really s a visual diary of personal growth. It's been a beautiful way to capture myself evolving as I heal. I can literally see it reflected in the photographs that I take of myself. Something that I've struggled with for the last decade of my life was allowing myself to be soft and feminine. I grew up in a family dynamic that didn't allow me to be that way, and as I grew older, I became more comfortable existing in my masculine energy. Mostly as a form of self preservation. And also because I didn't have that safe masculine energy in my life to make me feel like it was ok to exist in my softness. It's been a long journey for me. I being able to capture that journey on film has been one of the most meaning and healing things that I've ever done for myself. I hope you love this set as much as I do. <3 j
