Another set focusing on embracing my body. I really love the first double exposure and think it's very representative of how for most of my life, I've tried to keep myself small for other people; those in my personal life, and strangers in the outside world that had the power to judge me for wanting to explore self expression. I usually shoot a few of these more abstract self portraits at a time, but had this particular pose in mind. I was literally crouched on a tiny wooden stool trying to keep my balance, so as much as I would have like to get myself fully into frame for both shots, I'm pretty happy with the result.
There isn't anything too artistic about the next couple of shots. I was more focused on just capturing a more intimate moment, as well as give you guys a before and after look, and idea of how I take some of my double exposures.
The second double exposure actually turned out a little better than I thought it would. I had wanted to use this hibiscus flower to layer over a self port forever, but it blooms so sporadically. It usually only produces a single flower at a time, which I knew would create a lot of negative space. I decide to shoot the second frame horizontally so I could try to get as much of the greenery as possible to take up some of that space. I love how the leaf almost looks tucked into my hair.
