BTS/How it was made- Lily double exposure
Added 2024-02-02 03:48:26 +0000 UTCI thought I'd give you just a little glimpse of how one of my most popular photos was created. This just goes to show you that you don't need a lot of space or fancy props to create a beautiful image. This photo was literally made next to a toilet, and I adore it. Film meets the imagination. This photo was shot on expired Kodak Gold a few years ago. I shot the first frame of myself in the mirror vertically and the second of the lily photographs (which my mom has had forever) horizontally. I love how the sections of the lily photograph almost make it look like I'm walking through a doorway. Let me know if you'd like to see more of how I make my art! <3 j

You're absolutely right, it does create unrealistic expectations and can really discourage you from creating at all. Now I truly believe that less is more. Some of my favorite current images were taken against my white bathroom wall. Thanks for your input as always :)

With my photography I always think I need to dream big, to explore the most epic landscapes to get the perfect shot, and this creates unreal expectations where I feel like some of my best pictures aren’t good enough because they were taken in local easy places. But this reminds me that beautiful things don’t need to be grand or overly complex, they simple have to be beautiful. Thank you
