I was waiting for you to react to that Doctor Who moment, just didn't expect RJ to predict it before the reveal ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. Russel T Davies does tend to sneak Doctor Who into his shows. In the original Queer as Folk one of the main characters was a massive Whovian and tried to show off his Doctor Who collectibles to guys he brought home LOL. It was almost impossible to get a mortgage or life insurance in the late 80's into the 90's if you were a gay man. Most people I knew were worried that even having an HIV test on your medical record could be enough to cause problems which is why they show them all getting tested anonymously. The AIDS commercial at the start that Ritchie's parents were watching is etched into my memory. I was just a kid in the late 80's but remember being terrified of how sinister the advert was. The irony of them turning over to another station in disgust, then commenting at how much they like that TV presenter, because just a few years after this was set that presenter came out as gay (then ended up embroiled in a whole controversy after a young man pumped full of drugs wound up dead in the hosts swimming pool during a big party, but that's a whole other story). As for the ending of this episode, I don't think Ritchie was hiding his diagnosis, or lying. I interpreted the scene as him telling them, without saying it out loud. He said "don't touch me. You can't. I'm bleeding" and they all instantly realized that must mean he's infected, especially coming from Ritchie who always downplayed the virus in the start. Him saying I'm going to live, is basically him saying "I'm going to beat it!" At least that's how I interpret it. Oh man, I can't believe it's the last episode already. I'm really interested to hear your closing thoughts on this series, and have loved seeing your reactions to this one.
