I was planning on sharing a cropped and censored version of this one on my IG tomorrow, but wanted to share it here with you all first! This is from a recent set of double exposures (I'll be sharing the others later!) that I shot on my Pentax LX on Kodak T-Max 400.
I'm really proud of this one and honestly the whole set. I've struggled with anxiety and depression for most of my life. When I was really young, I actually cut myself for a couple of years before my mom found out and sought out treatment. I actually still have some of the scars. It wasn't until this last year that I re-entered therapy for the first time since I was a child, and made a conscious decision to make healing and my metal health a priority. My goal while shooting this set was to give a glimpse into my own personal battle as a reminder that so many of us are struggling with our mental health and doing what we can each day to make our human experience less painful. We hide it when it's nothing to be ashamed of. Its' something that truly connects us and reminds us how much we are the same. If you're fighting, I see you. <3 j
