I was obsessed with this show when it originally aired. One of the few tv shows that maintained a fairly consistent quality throughout its run. Simon Baker is fantastic in this role. He portrays Jane’s charisma and brokenness very well. Jane’s probably my favorite Sherlock expy (as in character that was inspired by Sherlock Holmes). I like the contrast between his gentle demeanor and his tendency to be a brazen a-hole. And he’s a bit different from other Sherlock expys by being explicitly all brain, no brawn. He is absolutely not a fighter which makes for an interesting dynamic when he’s confronting dangerous suspects with nothing more than bravado and cleverness.

2025-09-02 22:31:32 +0000 UTCI've always enjoyed the show, the concept was interesting, I like the way they did the opening, introducing us to recognizable guest stars and a case, then revealing the killer and ending the case in the opening scene before moving on to another one. I like the cast in the show, they do grow and develop as the series goes on. It is similiar to Psych but not a comedy and Psych actually made jokes about the show. At this point, the first couple of seasons of Psych I would definitely put below this show, but the later seasons of Psych I would probably put above this series, even though I did like both. Great reaction, thanks to Lasith for the sponsorship.
