This weekend was one for the books—we took our son to his very first concert as an early 16th birthday gift (his birthday’s in August, but when The Offspring is in town… you go!).
Jay got into Metallica earlier this year and started exploring more bands, so I introduced him to The Offspring—and he was instantly hooked. When we saw they were touring with New Found Glory and Jimmy Eat World, we knew it was the perfect lineup for his first show. 🙌
The concert was everything—loud, high energy, full of heart (and sweaty singalongs). Watching our kid scream lyrics and feel that rush in real time? Honestly unforgettable.
Also had a total throwback moment… I first fell in love with The Kids Aren’t Alright after hearing it on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Instant chills. Bought the Americana CD, played it nonstop in my Walkman (yep, showing my age 😅), and one day I was singing Pretty Fly (For a White Guy) in the car when my dad pulled over and said, “What the hell are you listening to?” 😂 Iconic parenting moment.
Music really does something magical—connecting generations, unlocking memories, and giving us nights we’ll never forget.
If you want to see just a smidgen of how hyped he was...here's a minute clip leading up to The Offspring coming on stage...lol Times this by a billion and you'll have an idea of how hyped he was when they played the songs he knew. He teared up at the end of the concert because of how happy and grateful he was. ❤️ We so appreciate everyone here giving us grace and understanding so we can have weekends like this❤️❤️❤️

💬 What was your first concert—or a band that defined your teen years? We’d love to hear your stories too 💕
