Let me tell you that the fandom was NOT ok with Ianto's death. There is literally a shrine to him in Cardiff at the location where they film the Torchwood entrance that still exists today, 16 years later. The show actually received a massive backlash for killing off his character, with forums and petitions demanding he be brought back or resurrected. The "behind closed doors" scene is one of the best TV moments for me. It's just so fuckin real. I don't have kids but I'm gonna be honest, I probably would be saying those things too. But also as someone who doesn't have kids, and someone who has a weird and logical, somewhat mathematical/statistical brain, I kind of agree with the female politician about the school leagues. But then I also have a massively empathetic mind and know that sometimes there's just a zip code lottery going on and there's gotta be some smart kids in there. Urgh, this is why it's such a great TV moment, it really makes you think about moral dilemmas and philosophical debates. Where's Chidi from the Good Place when you need him?! It's funny you mention the script writers. Russell T Davies was the Doctor Who showrunner for the earlier series, and he created Torchwood, but didn't really have any involvement in writing it until now. So that's why I think it's a step up, now that he's finally involved. I'm excited to see what you guys think of the finale. Well, is excited the word? S1 finale was Abaddon sucking the life out of Jack, S2 finale was Tosh and Owen dying. Torchwood doesn't have a good record. But it can't get worse that Ianto dying can it? We'll see. Happy Friday I guess.
