I really loved this episode. I think one of my favorites this season. I loved how passionate JRabbit got over Tyra. She’s so easy to root for, especially thinking back to the beginning of the show to where she is now. The frustration is so real because to us, as audiences, the path she should take is so clear (esp with Tami right there as the role model) but we also understand why she is the way she is. That “miseducation” that you mentioned is such a big part of her character. In some ways her arc is similar to Smash but Smash got real lucky with his family and his coach. Jason and Tim, individually and together, have had so many ups and downs over the seasons but I love how in the end, they really proved themselves to be true brothers. Tim was so good this episode, so supportive and just wanting the best for Jason. Every time the camera panned over to him watching Jason, his love for Jason just shone on his face. And Jason himself — I loved where he ended up. Not the perfect future he dreamed about when he was a kid but still a good one. He still has football and a family of his own. Julie, to me, is another frustrating character but in a very different way from Tyra. But she was great this episode. I loved the dinner scene. Matt needed that push as much as Coach did. Matt’s impromptu tryout moment for Coach was one of my favorite scenes in the whole show. It got their relationship back on track too, after all the S2 weirdness and the McCoys messing everything up this season. (Lowkey, I think Coach is one of the funniest characters in the show. The way Kyle Chandler grouchily delivered “I can count” and “Do we have any aspirin in the house?” had me rolling.) You guys have said everything I want to say about Coach and Tami this episode. Such a great episode for them and another good showcase for how good their marriage and the actors’ chemistry is. The only thing I’ll add is I’m pretty sure it was around this time that TV critics started saying they’ll riot if the FNL writers add an affair or some other tv cliche just to add cheap drama to their marriage (as is the case in many tv shows). They’re compelling and entertaining just as they are.

If it’s something FNL can do right. It’s send off a character folks love. With heart and hope. Not saying everything will work out for the character but just showing that they are on a decent path. Another good send off with street. Really liked this ep. Loved the part about the house with the Taylor’s too. How coach explains to Tami he would love to make her happy with this house but also how much of a burden on his conscious it would be. The face of disappointment he has that he couldn’t give the woman he loves her dream home was great acting. Then Tami comes in clutch with giving him relief. All good men deserve a Tami dammit!
