Capaldi being such a fanboy he just accepts every role in the Whoniverse 🤣 So Martha was supposed to be returning character but before series 3 could be commissioned Freema ended up being offered a main character role in "Law & Order: UK" which she accepted. She said she really wanted to do Torchwood but it's just one of those things in acting where you can't turn one thing down for something that's not even certain to happen. Most of your questions will be answered so I'll let the show reveal them when they are supposed to. The only thing I'll say since it was a line in episode 1 you maybe didn't pick up on, they are called the 456 because that's the radio frequency they used to communicate. I can't remember if they explicitly say how long has passed since Tosh and Owen died, but series 3 aired around 15 months after the series 2 finale so we can assume around 1 year has passed. Looking forward to "Day 2".
