Fellow fan on the spectrum here - I enjoy this show a lot, and I adore the way Jim Parsons plays Sheldon. My main quibble is that the traits most associated with autism get played as though they're supposed to be annoying - and "relatably" so. Like "oh my God isn't this weird guy the worst?" Instead of in any way trying to normalize it or encourage acceptance. Case in point - when Penny forced Raj to speak out loud, and it's treated like a breakthrough moment. I mean, if anything like that has ever happened, I'm happy for whoever it's happened to, but... don't yell at a nonverbal person to speak (and yes, being nonverbal only in certain scenarios counts as being nonverbal), even if they did piss you off the night before. Would you demand that someone in a wheelchair "stand up and show some respect"? I certainly hope not, Penny. Here endeth the soapbox.

But I've always been a fan of Abbott and that got reacted to then it wasn't reacted to for a year and then people voted it back and now it's one of the more popular of the list so if BBT drops, I hope that happens. I think that pairing Penny up with anyone is a good match for the character. I was on TBBT Reddit boards the other day and people did say that their favorite pair up are Penny and Sheldon so it is a constant for the show. I just don't get Sheldon myself but I understand how some people find the most joy in that. Hope to see another one soon
