I think the Spanish anarchists in CNT were better on this. They abolished professional attire except for where it served a function like for doctors and stuff. Most professionals started wearing ordinary work clothes to avoid being tagged as petti bugu. The only purpose of wearing a suit to work is to signal that your work is more important. I think it's pretty elitist and dubm to call wearing comfortable clothes appealing to the lowest common denominator of lumpen attire. It would just makes life easier if everyone was allowed to wear what they want.

2023-10-09 05:25:50 +0000 UTCThe Old Left once sought to uplift the common working man, not pander to the lowest common denominator lumpen behavior (and fashion stylings)...Soviet leaders always wore so-called business suits or military dress...Olof Palme always rocked a suit and tie...I am reminded of Bolshevik revolutionary and minister of education Anatoly Lunacharsky who wrote of the proletariat as a “lump of marble from which the revolutionary sculpts a more beautiful species"...hoodie/shorts combo might be functional, but it certainly isn't Beautiful.
