OMG!!! I would double my subscription fee to get Matt to take his Matt brain and dig into the actual functioning planning of the soviet union. Like he said, it's so insanely hard to get a good picture of this. The soviets were not open to sharing a lot of details, and interested in obfuscating others, but then after the fall, the archives opened up. The US was ideologically adamant about its own disinformation campaign. It's just an endless minefield of misinformation and cross-contamination when trying to find even the most basic information about how things worked, no ideological pretense, just the nuts and bolts of this giant economy. I do not have the kind of brain that is good at digging through those details, doing all the cross-referencing to get some kind of agreed upon representation of the truth, but Matt probably is. Please please please do this, Matt. Please do this. I will never ask you for anything ever again.
