2022-10-28 10:01:37 +0000 UTCIn response to COVID, all public school lunches were free until Congress allowed this to lapse this summer. Free food for children seems like a win win win: 1. Kids need food for proper development, nutrition, behavior, learning 2. Kids don't have jobs and can't be held responsible to pay for anything on their own behalf 3. There is stigma around some people paying for food while others don't. (Also around kids who bring their own lunch versus eating school lunch, but that is a separate issue) 4. Surely this helps American agriculture and food supplies if there is a larger, steady stream of funds coming in regularly for food Why is this contentious at all? Why aren't Democrats at least pushing for this winning political message? Going into the midterms? Can you remind me if this was part of the family fun pack? Any other thoughts about food / hunger? Thx for everything. I love you guys.
