I think Herzog put that pilot guy into the film as his own voice, because Herzog has a view of nature as horror and misery and I think he despises Treadwell for treating it as a fun playground where you could play with bears like they were your friends. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjjnZvtwtqA
