I think it's valid to say West End Caleb's behavior was in some way comparable to pathological behavior ("lovebombing" or whatever you want to call it) to a much more minor or lesser degree, in so far as he was using affection to manipulate the women. You can use the same tool for different purposes, and obviously getting a woman to sleep with you isn't nearly as bad as keeping her stuck in an abusive relationship.
